Samsung Wallet Expands with Digital Home Key Support via Aliro Standard
Samsung has announced a significant expansion of its digital wallet capabilities, bringing secure home access directly to Galaxy smartphones. At Mobile World Congress 2026, the company revealed that Samsung Wallet now supports Digital Home Keys through the Aliro standard, creating a unified ecosystem for both digital car keys and home access.
Seamless Home Access Integration
The new Digital Home Key feature will roll out to Samsung Wallet later this month in select markets. Users can add compatible smart door locks to their SmartThings app, after which the digital keys are securely stored in Samsung Wallet. Depending on the lock's capabilities, unlocking can be achieved through two methods: tapping the lock using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology or simply bringing the phone close to the lock using Ultra Wideband (UWB) for a more seamless experience.
The Aliro Standard Foundation
This integration is built upon the Aliro standard, developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance specifically for smart door lock applications. Samsung, as a founding member of the alliance, has worked closely with industry partners to create a unified and secure framework for smart lock access. The standard ensures interoperability across different manufacturers while maintaining high security standards.
Compatible Ecosystem and Security
The update brings support for smart locks from leading brands including Aqara, Nuki, Schlage, and Xthings. Security remains paramount in this implementation, with Digital Home Key data protected by Samsung's Knox security platform. The system aligns with the EAL6+ certification standard, which is typically used in high-security environments, ensuring that home access remains as secure as financial transactions within the wallet.
