Samsung Unveils The Freestyle+ Portable Projector with Enhanced Brightness and AI Features
Samsung has announced its third-generation portable projector, The Freestyle+, ahead of CES 2026. The device represents a significant upgrade over previous models, featuring improved brightness, advanced AI capabilities, and expanded content options for on-the-go entertainment.
Enhanced Performance and AI-Powered Features
The Freestyle+ boasts a brightness of 430 ISO lumens, making it twice as bright as the previous generation. This improvement allows for clearer projections in various lighting conditions, enhancing the viewing experience whether indoors or outdoors.
Central to the new model is the AI OptiScreen feature, which automatically adjusts picture projection to suit any surface. This includes 3D Auto Keystone for automatic picture alignment based on surface angles, Real-time Focus for continuous sharpness even when the projector moves, and Screen Fit for automatic size and shape adjustment when used with compatible screen accessories. The Wall Calibration feature further optimizes colors based on the surface's color and pattern.
Intelligent Assistant and Content Integration
Samsung has integrated an enhanced version of Bixby powered by large language models into The Freestyle+. This AI companion can answer questions about video content, actors, and locations while suggesting content based on user preferences. The chatbot maintains conversation context and provides intelligent responses throughout viewing sessions.
The projector runs the latest Tizen operating system with One UI interface, featuring Daily+ and Daily Board functionalities. Samsung TV Plus provides access to free content, while integrations with major video streaming services ensure comprehensive entertainment options.
Gaming and Audio Capabilities
Addressing previous feedback, Samsung has included Samsung Gaming Hub in The Freestyle+, enabling high-end gaming through cloud-based services like Amazon Luna, Microsoft Xbox Cloud, Nvidia GeForce Now, and Utomik. This transforms the portable projector into a versatile gaming platform.
Audio features include a built-in 360-degree speaker for room-filling sound and wireless pairing capability with Samsung soundbars and wireless sound devices through Q-Symphony. Additional features encompass Ambient Mode, AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, Samsung Health, Smart View, SmartThings, SolarCell Remote, Tap View, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Availability and Future Prospects
Samsung will showcase The Freestyle+ at CES 2026 in Las Vegas from January 6-9. The company plans to launch the projector in various markets during the first half of the year, with phased rollouts across different regions.
